Strikeforce Gyms newest recruit Ben Counsel heads off to Sydney for JNI Promotions Anger Management show at the Hurstville Civic Centre.
Ben takes on Charlie Bechwaty from Sun Doi's Muay Thai Gym for the WMC Australian title.

Things didn't get off to a good start when Ben had car trouble on the way to the airport, causing him to miss his plane. After a mad scramble and a later flight Ben made it to Sydney but had to rush straight to the sauna to drop the last kilo or two.
After the dilemma of actually getting to Sydney and the mad rush to lose the weight the there was a communication break down which saw Ben left at the local Aquatic centre.
A few frantic phone calls, finally Ben got picked up and taken to dinner.
Fight day came around and unfortunatley Charlie decide to pull out of the fight! Feeling gutted and disheartened the boys resisted the temptaion to go to the pub down stairs and proceeded business as usual. Luckily JNI was able to match a fight with Luiz from Bondi Muay Thai. Luiz was a little less experienced but a naturally bigger boy and being Brazillian had a capoiera BJJ back ground.
Things started well with Ben using his speed and mobility well. Ben was landing some nice kicks and solid punches. Unfortunateluy he got caught with an awkward spinning elbow which opened a nice gash in the middle of his forehead. After recieving a nice squirt of blood on his shirt while checking the cut the doctor called the fight off.
So all in all a dissappoiniting weekend but Ben has come back with a new resolve to improve and progress and under the guidance of Mark Pease expect big things in the future from Ben!
