IFMA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2006
Mark Pease, Evan Morris, Chris Barrett, Amy Dutton and Judd Cornwall all take off to the land of smiles shortly to prepare and compete in the annual IFMA World Championships in Bangkok.
After arriving in Thailand they will spend a week training at Eminent Air Gym under the watchful eye of Somboon.
They will then represent Australia in what promises to be the biggest event so far with over 100 countries expected to participate. Then its down to Koh Samui for a few days R&R before returning back to Australia.
We wish all the guys good luck and we will keep you updated with their progress.
1.6.06 First up was Evan Morris in the 71kg B division. Evan took the win over a tough boy from Scotland. Evan put on a great display of knees and elbows with great thai style.
Amy lost a hard fight against a girl from Spain, with the Spanish girl having a higher work rate.
Chris took on a giant from Holland and lost a very close points decision. Chris weighed in at 76.3 and just found the weight difference to much in the 81kg class. However that didn't stop Chris constantly coming forward and was the aggressor through the fight.
Poor old Judd has to wait another couple of days yet before he fights.
2.6.06 Unfortunately Evan has had to pull out of his second round fight due to an ankle injury he sustained in the first fight. Judd is due to fight today also.
5.6.06 Juddy finally got in the ring in Bangkok and fought a strong boy from Papua New Guinea. Unfortunately his boxing skills were a bit too much and he scored the win over Judd with a stoppage in the second round.
6.6.06 Just got word from Mark that due to certain circumstances and withdrawls that Chris Barrett got a second chance and was drawn back in to the medal rounds. Good luck to the big fella!
