MWP WESTERN PROGRESSION 2.4.06

2.4.06

Mr.C, Chris Barrett and Justin Aspel recently ventured to Perth to fight on the MWP Western Progression show on April 1st.
Chris was facing the tough and experienced Chad Walker at 79kg while J.A. was up against a rising star of the W.A. scene in Kris Craine-White.
With the weigh in and formalities out of the way and Chris and J.A. both coming in comfortably under the set weight it was time for business.
Justin was up first. Kris's height advantage caused problems in the first with J.A. wearing a barrage of high left knees in the grapple. The second saw a change of tactic and the fight stay at range a bit more resulting in a more even round. The third was following the same pattern as the second when after pushing J.A. against the ropes Kris landed a sweet high left kick which dropped Justin.
J.A. managed to climb off the canvas to beat the eight count however the referee decided that he was still a bit unsteady and called the fight. Kris the victor by K.O.
Chris and Chads bout started at a million miles an hour. While Chris would look to work at range Chad would rush through in to grappling range and work work work! Chad was throwing knees and elbows from anywhere and everywhere!
The second was more of the same although Chris continued to push forward and started to land a few more shots while Chad was happy to tie up in the clinch and fire away with knees and elbows.
The fight continued this pattern with Chris landing some nice elbows of his own however Chad somehow kept up his hectic work rate for the full five rounds. Chad the winner by unanimous decision.
