Than Samai promotions began life in 2005. Increasingly frustrated with the lack of avenues for up and coming fighters to display their talents, Mark Pease went about starting a series of shows that would heavily feature the abundance of up and coming local fighters. In January 2005, Mark and Mr C started creating a show with one simple strategy and goal, well matched fights!

WOS Poster War on the Shore 1 12.3.05

The first show "War on the Shore" featured Ben "Pixie" Burton taking on tough Englishman Richard Fenwick (Keddles UK) for the WMC Light Middleweight Commonwealth title. With the undercard featuring names like Chris Barrett, Ben Radley, Evan Morris, Mick Little, and gyms like Boonchu, NTG, SCTBC, Black Dragons Kai and Ironfist the show was a runaway success. In fact the show was so successful that after planning to hold 3 events for the year, the team had to move from the Troccodero Night Club to the larger Southport RSL for future shows.

Almost 3 years and nine successful shows later and the boys are still hard at it. They continue to usher through the next generation of stars with fighters like Mark Staiti, Michael Thompson, Kershall Wallace, Shadow Shepard, Kevin NTG, Mark Lucchiari, and a swag of others all putting on awesome displays. Add in the main event superstars like Pixie Burton, Aaron TS2 Leigh, and Danny DDD and its not hard to see why Than Samai Promotions and the War on the Shore series continues to forge ahead!

War On The Shore 9 was held October 27th and featured some cracking fights including SFG's Evan Morris taking on Robbi Filliponi and Brodie Smith defending his WMC 63.5kg Australian title against Kevin Lay NTG. More details can be found in the News section.
The next event is set down for February 2008 at the Southport RSL so keep your ear to the ground for details. Or better just check back here!
